Meet McGill’s new Indigenous Student Associate

Terry David Young, a member of New Brunswick’s Kingsclear First Nation, is  the First Peoples’ House's new Indigenous Student Associate. With  10 years experience as manager of health and services at the Mohawk’s Kahnawá:ke territory, he’ll put his vast knowledge and skills to good use helping Indigenous students navigate their new life away from home, friends and family.

Bringing Indigenous perspectives to the classroom

On a Tuesday afternoon in March, members of the McGill community gathered in the century-old Hosmer House to learn about Indigenous histories. The Kairos Blanket Exercise – given to over 200 students in the Faculty of Education alone this year – is part of the broader work being done by Allan Vicaire, Indigenous Education Advisor, to integrate Indigenous perspectives and histories into curriculums at McGill

McGill to launch Task Force on Indigenous Studies and Education

On Thursday, September 22, Provost Christopher Manfredi will launch his Task Force on Indigenous Studies and Indigenous Education, inspired by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. To mark the occasion, a special ceremony will be held at the Hochelaga Rock, whose new position of prominence on the downtown campus symbolizes the Provost’s commitment to embedding Indigeneity in the life and activities of the University.
