QS rankings place Desautels among world’s top business schools

McGill’s Master of Management in Analytics program is rated 10th best business analytics program in the world

On September 23, global higher and business education analyst QS Quacquarelli Symonds released its Business Masters Rankings 2021, which rates the world’s top master’s degrees in five popular business subjects.

The QS Rankings proved to be the coming out party for McGill’s Master of Management in Analytics program (MMA). Launched in 2018, the program was unranked in 2019. This year, the MMA program has been named 10th in the world and No.1 in Canada in the Business Analytics category.

Continuing to push boundaries in analytics

“The validation from the respected QS group is a testament to all the hard work of our incredible students, dedicated professors, clients and MMA team,” says Program Director Shoeb Hosain. “We’re extremely proud of the achievement, and look to continue to push boundaries in the analytics spectrum.”

Academic Director Mehmet Gumus adds: “With its experience on both solid technical foundation and business applications through experiential learning, the Master of Management in Analytics program at McGill University bridges the gap between data science and various business functions and prepares its graduates to make a real-world impact.”

Desautels’ Master of Management in Finance program also had a strong showing, being ranked 17th in the world and first overall in Canada in the Finance category.

More good news for Desautels

Each ranking is compiled on the basis of five key metrics: employability; entrepreneurship and alumni outcomes; return on investment; thought leadership; and class and faculty diversity. Collectively these rankings cover the post-graduate programs most in-demand amongst employers around the world.

Andrew MacFarlane, Rankings Manager at QS, said: “In addition to analyzing program-related inputs, QS also considered the reputation of specific business schools from the perspective of nearly 37,000 global employers and more than 34,000 global academics. Finally, we mapped the education paths of 27,831 successful alumni back to specific institutions.”

On the same day, QS revealed the 2021 edition of its Global MBA Rankings 2021 – which proved to be more good news for the Desautels Faculty of Management. McGill’s Master of Business Administration program was ranked 59th in the world and second in Canada – a jump of 12 spots in its global rankings from 2019.
