As part of Quebec’s Journées de la culture, and in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of Gustav Mahler’s birth, the McGill Symphony Orchestra will perform free concerts on Sept. 24 and Sept. 25. On the program: Richard Strauss: Feierlicher Einzug der Ritter des Johanniter-Ordens, Op. 103; Mahler: Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen; Schumann, Symphony No. 2 in C major, Op. 61, with retouches by Mahler. Artistic director: Alexis Hauser.
Les journées de la culture, held annually in late September, are a province-wide initiative to raise awareness of the importance of culture and the need to provide greater access to art and culture for all Quebecers.
