This new employee communication tool is designed to report on a regular basis what is happening throughout McGill, mainly from an administrative point of view. Through this channel, we also want to give you a better understanding of how the Human Resources team can assist you in various aspects of your work. In recent years, the HR focus has shifted toward a client-centered unit, staffed with experts in benefits, compensation, labour relations, professional services, recruitment and organizational development. In addition, HR advisors and Direct Service representatives are assigned throughout McGill’s faculties, departments and administrative units to support your specific HR needs. We remain aligned with our mission, which is to develop strategies and practices in support of effective management, professional excellence and recognition of achievements.
The timing is right to launch this new tool. Our renewed focus on achieving our institutional goals includes new leadership in the Principal’s ranks. Michael Di Grappa, recently appointed Vice-Principal (Administration and Finance), is also accountable for Human Resources. We welcome his broad experience in the academic field to further enhance our expertise in people management. This includes consistent communication of where the University is headed and some of the challenges we will face along the way.
We will also be reporting on trends showing how the global workforce is shifting. We plan to make this newsletter informative, relevant and inspiring. This is your tool as well. We want to hear your thought on topics you would like to see covered, so please be in touch.
