McGill sweeps Carleton to clinch CCBA's North Division pennant

Rob Sedin went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs, as McGill edged Carleton 2-1 to claim a doubleheader sweep at Gary Field in Trudeau Park, Sunday. The two victories clinched first-place in the Canadian Collegiate baseball Association's Northern Division. It was the third pennant in five years for the Redmen.

Rob Sedin went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs, as McGill edged Carleton 2-1 to claim a doubleheader sweep at Gary Field in Trudeau Park, Sunday.

Combined with Ryan Kramer’s complete game, 3-0 one-hitter over Carleton in the opener, the two victories clinched first-place in the Canadian Collegiate baseball Association’s Northern Division as McGill improved to 14-4 with two games remaining before post-season play. It was the third pennant in five years for the Redmen.

Sedin, who stroked an RBI single the third to tie the game at 1-1, cashed in Adam Levis from second base for the deciding run in the sixth. Levis had singled and advanced to second base on a groundout by Tyler Welence.

PitcherTim Jones collected the win in relief of Redmen starter James Vardy, striking out two during his three innings of work. He allowing no earned runs, one hit and no walks.

Wil Mcintyre had a hot bat for Carleton, going 2-for-3 and including an RBI-double in the third. .McGill answered that with a run of heir own in .

Ravens starter Eric Elliot took the loss on the mound despite a solid six-inning outing, He walked none, struck out four and allowed two runs.
