Job seekers across Canada have ranked McGill third among Canada’s top five employers. McGill joined Research in Motion (maker of the Blackberry), Air Canada, Bombardier and IBM Canada in the Top 5 in the inaugural Randstad Canada rankings of the country’s leading employers. The Randstad Awards are aimed at encouraging best practices in building the best employer brands in Canada.
The Randstad Awards are focused on identifying the best places to work among 150 of Canada’s largest employers, based on the opinions of more than 7,000 job seekers and workers in Canada. “We are excited to rank among the most attractive employers in Canada, and we are especially proud since the ranking is determined by the people’s choice: job seekers looking for top organizations to pursue their careers,” said Lynne B. Gervais, Associate Vice-Principal, Human Resources.
“With global skills shortages continuing to intensify, the insights from the survey will help employers to find out why potential candidates choose one company over another and what factors determine the attractiveness of an employer, said Randstad Canada president Jan Hein Bax.
First launched in Europe in 2000, the awards are used by many organizations as an indicator to help them measure their success as an employer of choice. This is the first time the awards have been presented in North America. The event to present the winning organizations was held in Toronto, where senior executives from many of Canada’s biggest companies were in attendance.
Organizations cannot nominate themselves for the award or determine the category for entry. The top five are selected by the working public, making these awards the people’s choice awards. The awards provide valid insights to attract talent, build employee engagement strategies and drive future success.
Randstad Canada is a major provider of human resources services which specializes in staffing and recruitment.
