Hamilton rushes Redmen to second win

A dominating performance by Running Back Andrew Hamilton led the football Redmen to a 49-27 win over the Mount Allison Mounties in Sackville, N.B last Saturday. With their second victory in the three weeks, the Redmen improved to 2-2. Before their Week 2 win against the Sherbrooke, the Redman had lost 17 games consecutive games over a period of three seasons.

Hamilton, a native of Montreal who was raised in Florida, scored three touchdowns and racked up 349 all-purpose yards. One of his TDs was a 53-yard run on McGill’s fifth offensive play of the game. Hamilton rushed 28 times for 254 yards and added two receptions for 95 yards, including an 85-yard TD pass from quarterback Jonathan Collin.

Hamilton’s performance earned him both McGill Male Athlete and QUFL Offensive Player of the Week honours.

Note from the pitch: Soccer Martlets forward Alexandra Morin-Boucher of St. Gabriel de Brandon, Que. is McGill’s Female Athlete of the Week. Morin-Boucher, a 5-foot-6 sophomore in physical and health education, scored five goals and added one assist to help McGill sweep a pair of home games over the weekend. The 21-year-old scored the game-winner in both contests and was in on six of McGill’s seven goals scored. She netted a hat-trick and set up another marker in a 4-0 win over Bishop’s last Friday, then tallied twice in a 3-0 defeat of UQTR. Morin-Boucher enrolled at McGill last fall out of College de Joliette.
