Each year, through the Staff Recognition Program, the University recognizes employees’ years of service by offering them a pin relating to significant milestones.

In the last two years, pins were handed out to employees with 15, 25, 35, 45 and 50 years of service.  The Human Resources group consistently reviews its awards programs to ensure that employees are duly recognized for their contribution to the University.

In reviewing the Staff Recognition Program, it was clear that for many employees, there is great pride in wearing these pins to celebrate the different milestones representing loyal service to the University. Therefore, the original program has been reinstated, which means that HR advisors will be distributing the service pins to supervisors who will then start handing them out to employees having reached 20, 30 and 40 years of service in 2010 and 2011. All 2012 pins for employees celebrating five-year milestones starting at 15 and up to 50 years will receive their service pins later this fall as is normally the case.

Recognizing loyal service to the University every five years is important to McGill employees as it is to the University and serves as yet another means of showing its appreciation for their role in supporting and promoting the University’s mission.
