The Boroughs of Ville-Marie and the Plateau Mont Royal have informed McGill that work associated with the repair of water mains and sewer lines around the McTavish Reservoir will continue beyond the scheduled completion date while the contractor tries to solve a persistent water leak associated with a defect on a 250-metre portion of a new water main.

“Over the past few weeks, a number of unsuccessful attempts to detect the water leakage have been carried out with the contractor and with specialized inspection firms,” the boroughs’ message said. “Given this situation, the contractor has agreed to remedy this problem at its own expense in order to make the water supply line leak-proof. These corrective measures include excavating certain sections of avenue des Pins, between rue Aylmer and avenue du Docteur Penfield.”

Access to the Royal Victoria Hospital has been maintained as well as the STM bus routes.

The City of Montréal “is aware of the inconveniences caused by this work and thanks you in advance for your patience.”

In order to avoid this area, motorists may use the alternate route via Parc Ave., Sherbrooke St. and Côte-des-Neiges Rd.
