Tree roots blocking Burnside drains

A tree near the Otto Maass Chemistry Building will be coming down soon in order to effect the urgent reconstruction of the drainage systems (sanitary and storm sewers) that run out of nearby Burnside Hall. As is McGill's usual practice, the tree will be replaced nearby as soon as is practical and possible.

Homeowners with trees on their properties will know this experience: the sewer doesn’t clear properly, the plumber comes with the video snake and it turns out that tree roots are obstructing the drains. The same thing can happen at the University and that’s why a tree near the Otto Maass Chemistry Building will be coming down soon in order to effect the urgent reconstruction of the drainage systems (sanitary and storm sewers) that run out of nearby Burnside Hall. As is McGill’s usual practice, the tree will be replaced nearby as soon as is practical and possible.
