John Rea

Dedicated to Schulich School of Music professor and composer John Rea, the Société de musique contemporaine du Québec’s 2015-2016 season is filled with concerts presenting his works, including concerts by ensembles from Schulich. Rea’s compositional approach represents a contemporary reincarnation of the dream of the Renaissance, attempting to reconcile the formal perfection of Classicism and the excessiveness of Romanticism. John Rea Days (at the Schulich School, Jan. 24-26) will include three evenings of concerts and presentations along with an afternoon of lectures. For more events in the John Rea Homage Series visit the SMCQ website.
