The Quebec Government launched its round of four “pre-summit” meetings this week with a session at Université Laval in Quebec City Thursday night and Friday that focused on the theme of quality in higher education. Before the main summit scheduled for mid-February, three other pre-summit sessions will be held – on access to and participation in higher education; the governance and financing of universities; and the contribution of institutions of research and development to Quebec in general.
And here at McGill, the Post-Graduate Student Society – PGSS – is holding its own pre-summit, on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 3 and 4, to discuss many of the issues being touched upon by the larger, province-wide process. The program is comprehensive and features a wide range of speakers. There is still time – and space – for people interested in the subjects and the process to participate in this major event (registration is free) and the event will also be webcast at: http://bcooltv.mcgill.ca/Viewer/?EventID=201211301553.
