Santa, smiles, and festive spirit in the spotlight at annual Holiday Skating Party

Event collects much-needed non-perishable food items for Sun Youth

On December 3, over 1,000 members of the McGill community and their family members flocked to the McConnell Arena to take part in the annual Holiday Skating Party. This marked the 33rd edition of the ever-popular event.

Participants were greeted by the dulcet sounds of The Chromatones, a student acapella group, singing seasonal favourites. Empty collection bins were quickly filled to the brim with non-perishable food items destined to Sun Youth, which provides services to low-income families in Montreal.

Fueled by hot dogs (including a vegetarian option), snacks, and hot and cold beverages, happy skaters, including members of the McGill Martlets and Redbirds hockey teams and Marty the Martlet, took to the ice. As part of the festivities, performances by the McGill Figure Skating Club dazzled onlookers. Of course, the highlight of the event was Santa and his hard-working elves.
