Saleema Nawaz wins Quebec Writers' Federation top prize in fiction

Saleema Nawaz, an Administrative Coordinator in the Department of Philosophy, has won Quebec Writers' Federation top prize in fiction for her debut novel, Bone and Bread (House of Anansi Press). The award was handed out during the Quebec Writers' Federation annual gala Tuesday night at the Virgin Mobile Corona Theatre.

Saleema Nawaz, an Administrative Coordinator in the Department of Philosophy, has won Quebec Writers’ Federation top prize in fiction for her debut novel, Bone and Bread (House of Anansi Press). The award was handed out during the Quebec Writers’ Federation annual gala Tuesday night at the Virgin Mobile Corona Theatre.

“Bone and Bread has engrossing humanity, relevance, readability and the adumbration of a sage reflection on our Montreal universe… On the whole, it is brave, it inhabits fresh territory, it is ambitious, and successful…” said jury members Katherine Govier, Edeet Ravel and Guy Sprung during the presentation.
