The McGill Redmen snapped a 23-game losing streak Friday night with a lopsided win over the Mount Allison Mounties in university football action. Led by quarterback Ryne Bondy, of Richmond Hill, Ont., who passed for three touchdowns and ran for another, the Redmen chalked up a 36-9 victory in front of more than 2,000 fans at Percival Molson Stadium. Bondy, a fifth-year senior who was making his first start of the young season, completed 13 of 22 passes for 189 yards and rushed eight times for a game-high 69 yards. After connecting with receiver Gabriel Aubry, of Lanoraie, for a 59-yard TD bomb just three minutes into the game, Bondy scampered eight yards to make it 14-0 before the game was six minutes old. By the end of the first half, it was 35-0, and Bondy was replaced by Jonathan Collin for the second half, most of which was played in heavy rain. The game had been halted for 12 minutes late in the second quarter by a heavy thunderstorm that swept across much of Montreal Island.
