As promised, McGill’s new Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Suzanne Fortier, has had her contract made public this morning in a website posting. A French-language version may be found here.

The contract, a comparatively simple agreement, stipulates that Fortier will be paid a base salary of $390,000 per year and will be eligible for a maximum 20-per-cent performance bonus should specific criteria and goals be met, said Stuart H. “Kip” Cobbett, Chair of McGill’s Board of Governors.

“Principal’s Fortier compensation is well within the range of that offered to leaders of other major universities in Canada and there are several who receive more,” Cobbett said. “We took McGill’s current financial situation into account when preparing the terms of this agreement and we are glad that Principal Fortier has accepted these conditions.”
