November is Osteoporosis Awareness Month

As part of Osteoporosis Awareness Month in November, a group of researchers will be hosting a booth at the the Montreal General Hospital on Friday, Nov. 14 and again on Friday, Nov. 28. Dieticians will be at the booth and available to answer questions regarding the importance of calcium and vitamin D in fracture prevention, and will be offering to conduct fracture risk assessments.

skeleton-5As part of Osteoporosis Awareness Month in November, a group of researchers from McGill and the RI-MUHC will be hosting a booth at the Cedar entrance of the Montreal General Hospital on Friday, Nov. 14 and again on Friday, Nov. 28. In addition to information pamphlets from Osteoporosis Canada, dieticians will be at the booth and available to answer questions regarding the importance of calcium and vitamin D in fracture prevention, and will be offering to conduct fracture risk assessments.

The researchers are currently recruiting participants for their study designed to address conflicting reports regarding the safety of calcium supplements. Click here for more information on the calcium study.
