In this lecture, Stephen Lewis will draw on his extensive international experience to illustrate the power of advocacy in the fight for social justice, global health and equality. Mr. Lewis is the co-founder and co-director of AIDS-Free World, an international advocacy organization that works to promote more urgent and more effective global responses to HIV/AIDS. His work with the United Nations – which included serving as Canada’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF, and UN Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa – spanned over two decades. This lecture is part of the Annual Osler Lectureship of the Faculty of Medicine.
