Professor Shaheen Shariff and her team, Define the Line, will host a conference on legal and policy issues relating to cyberbullying. Legal scholars from law, education, psychology and information systems will address the challenges of balancing the right to free online expression with privacy, security, supervision, regulation, and engage in dialogue relating to context, complexities and the current policy vacuum. The conference will help to clarify the emerging legal concerns for teachers, school principals and school board officials, parents, school counsellors and librarians. This is a timely topic, because issues of cyberbullying and sexual online violence are at the top of Canadian public policy agendas. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., McGill Faculty Club Ballroom, 3450 McTavish St. Please RSVP/Pre-Register until Nov. 13 by email. Admission is free.
