McGill strengthens its ties with Brazil

Principal Heather Munroe-Blum and Dr. Julio Cezar Durigan, Vice Rector and Acting Rector of the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) sign an Undergraduate Research Trainee Agreement, one of four agreements signed by McGill and Brazilian universities last week. Prof. Munroe-Blum was among the 30 Canadian university presidents who visited some of their Brazilian counterparts as part of a higher education mission organized by the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC). The mission was led by Canada’s Governor General, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston.

The agreements that were signed will bring increasing numbers of Brazilian students at all levels in their studies to McGill in coming years and will also foster a range of research collaborations in areas as diverse as biofuel and tuberculosis care.
