McGill mourns Charlotte Légaré

Martin Kreiswirth, Associate Provost (Graduate Education) and Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, sent a message to the GPS community Wednesday, delivering the sad news that Charlotte Légaré, Director of Graduate Studies for 20 years at McGill, had lost her battle with cancer.

Martin Kreiswirth, Associate Provost (Graduate Education) and Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, sent a message to the GPS community Wednesday, delivering the sad news that Charlotte Légaré, Director of Graduate Studies for 20 years at McGill, had lost her battle with cancer. Here is his message:

“I am deeply saddened to announce that our dear friend and colleague, Charlotte Légaré, passed away on Monday after a long struggle with cancer. Charlotte worked at McGill for 30 years.  For over 20 years she was Director of Graduate Studies, but more than that, Charlotte was the heart of GPS.   She will be greatly missed.

“Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday May 4, 2013 at Urgel Bourgie funeral complex, 1255 Beaumont, Mont-Royal. The funeral service will take place on that same day at 1:00PMin the Chapel at 1255 Beaumont, Mont Royal.

Charlotte was a strong and fair person who gave people the chance to shine….thank you Charlotte for seeing the strength in me that no one else could …you changed my course in life. Thank you, I will always remember you.
