The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) recently announced that McGill has received the GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its FY2014 Budget Book. It marks the third straight year McGill’s budget has won the award.

In order to receive the budget award, McGill had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. The guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as a policy document; a financial plan; an operations guide; and a communications device. According to the GFOA, the “award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting. Its attainment represents a significant achievement.”

McGill’s FY2014 Budget Book was rated Proficient or Outstanding on all mandatory evaluation categories.
