Are you overweight or obese? Do you know someone who would like to lose weight? If so, you, or the person you know, may be eligible for the McGill CHIP Healthy Weight Program.

The program is offering group sessions for individuals between the ages of 18 and 75 who are overweight or obese and exercise less than 200 minutes/week. The program is free of charge.

Participants will meet weekly over three months with a trained lifestyle coach and receive guidance and support to improve their eating and exercise habits. Follow-up sessions to help maintain the weight loss are offered subsequently. Sessions are offered at different times and days of the week in both English and French, and will be held at the YMHA located in Snowdon (métro Côte-Sainte-Catherine) or on McGill’s downtown campus.

This program is a research initiative led by Dr. Bärbel Knäuper of the McGill Psychology Department and the Comprehensive Health Improvement Program (CHIP) with funding from the Canadian Institute of Health Research.

If you are interested in participating and would like to find out if you are eligible please email project research co-ordinator Melodie Chamandy at mcgillhealthyweight@gmail.com. If you have further questions, please email Melodie or call 514-398-1399.

I’m very interested in your program. At age 54, I have been a yo-yo dieter for the last 24 years, I seem to have no self control. I work from 3:00pm-11:40, so I’ll be available in the morning.
Thank you

I am 51 and about 100 lbs overweight. I was a normal weight until I was 37.
I have gone up and down. lost 60 lbs on medifast. but have now gained it back in the last two years.I am an emotional eater. Have not been exercising in the last year, but was going to the gym before that.
Know what to do, can’t seem to stick to it.
