Are you overweight or obese? Do you know someone who would like to lose weight?
You (or the person you know) may be eligible for the McGill CHIP Healthy Weight Program.
The program is offering group sessions for individuals who are overweight or obese, are between the ages of 18 to 75, and exercise less than 200 minutes/week. The program is a research initiative led by Dr. Bärbel Knäuper of the McGill Psychology Department and the Comprehensive Health Improvement Program (CHIP) and is funded by the Canadian
Institute of Health Research. The program is free of charge. Participants will meet weekly over 3 months with a trained lifestyle coach during which they will be provided guidance and support to improve their eating and exercise habits. Follow-up sessions to help maintain the weight loss are offered subsequently. Sessions are offered at different times and days of the week in both English and French, and will be held at the YMHA located in Snowdon (metro Côte-Sainte-Catherine) or on McGill’s downtown campus.
If you are interested in participating, please email project research coordinator Mélodie Chamandy at to find out whether you are eligible. If you have further questions, please email or call 514-398-1399.
