On Wednesday, Feb. 6, the Honourable Irwin Cotler will deliver the annual Cassin lecture: Genocide Convention and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: What Have We Learned? What Must We Do? Cotler is presently a Canadian Member of Parliament and served as Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada from December 2003 to January 2006. He is currently serving as Special Counsel on Human Rights & International Justice, is a member of the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on International Human Rights, and Co-Chair of the Canadian Helsinki Watch Group.
