Dawn Tyler Watson sings a moving rendition of ‘Forever Young’ in tribute to David Colman, the late Director of the Montreal Neurological Institute who passed away on June 11, 2011, as part of the David Colman Symposium on May 16-17. The international scientific symposium and commemorative ceremony paid tribute to Colman’s exceptional contributions as a scientist, advocate, educator and mentor. In all, some 300 people attended the event, which was held at the MNI.

The scientific symposium brought together prominent international neuroscientists in the fields of neuroengineering, synaptogenesis, glia, myelin and cognition. During the commemorative ceremony, Dawn Tyler Watson was accompanied by two musicians, one who, fittingly, was playing Colman’s favourite instrument, the banjo. An avid banjo player himself, Colman used to maintain he slept much better at night if he listened to a little banjo music before retiring.
