On Feb. 27, Canada’s three major research funding agencies – the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research – announced a new harmonized Open Access Policy on Publications that requires research publications supported by public funds to be made openly available for the benefit of the community at large.
