Canada severs diplomatic relations with Iran

McGill's International Student Services Department will be in touch with all of our Iranian students as soon as possible to provide the help and information we can about questions concerning immigration documents, passports and financial situations.

Canada announced this morning that it has broken off diplomatic relations with Iran, is closing its embassy and consular services in that country and asking Iranian diplomats in Canada to leave this country within five days. These events will affect our students who come from Iran, but it is as yet unclear exactly what those effects will be. McGill’s International Student Services Department will be in touch with all of our Iranian students as soon as possible to provide the help and information we can about questions concerning immigration documents, passports and financial situations. We expect to invite these students to a meeting at the beginning of next week where we hope we will be able to provide more concrete information about where they can find assistance with a variety of questions or problems.
