Rajendhran Rajakumar, a Biology PhD student in Ehab Abouheif’s lab, was recently named winner of the Étudiants-chercheurs étoiles award for September 2012 in the nature and technology category. Rajakumar won the award based on the strength of his paper, “Ancestral Developmental Potential Facilitates Parallel Evolution in Ants,” that was published in Science in Jan. 2012.
The $1,000 Étudiants-chercheurs étoiles awards are presented each month by the three Fonds de recherche du Québec to recognize student researchers in training. The awards support and celebrate the exceptional research contributions of college and university students (bachelor’s, master’s, doctorate), postdoctoral fellows and members of professional bodies who are enrolled in advanced research training programs in the areas covered by the three Fonds de recherche du Québec – nature and technology, health and culture and society.
