Hockey Redmen begin playoff drive

The No.2-ranked McGill hockey Redmen will host eighth-place Ottawa (11-14-3) tonight (Wed., Jan. 16) in the opening game of an OUA Eastern Conference best-of-three quarter-final. Game 2 of that series is set for Friday in the nation's capital and if a rubber match is needed, it is slated for Sunday night at McConnell Arena. McGill is 89-77-10 lifetime against the Gee-Gees and have won three straight playoff series against them (2009, 2006, 2005).

The No.2-ranked McGill hockey Redmen will host eighth-place Ottawa (11-14-3) tonight (Wed., Jan. 16) in the opening game of an OUA Eastern Conference best-of-three quarter-final. Game 2 of that series is set for Friday in the nation’s capital and if a rubber match is needed, it is slated for Sunday night at McConnell Arena. McGill is 89-77-10 lifetime against the Gee-Gees and have won three straight playoff series against them (2009, 2006, 2005).

McGill finished the campaign with a division-leading record of 24-2-2, breaking their previous single-season school record for wins (22), established last year. They lead the nation in scoring (5.04 goals per game) and are tied for third defensively, with an OUA-leading 2.29 goals-against average.
