The Schulich School of Music has curated the Celebration Series, a collection of concerts presented throughout the fall, to mark the reopening of its newly renovated performance venue.
Taking place Sept.19 – Nov. 22, the six-concert Celebration Series will help mark Pollack Concert Hall’s first live musical performances in over two years.
Each concert will feature a different McGill ensemble, including the McGill Symphony Orchestra, Opera McGill and the Schulich Singers. The series is intended to highlight both the breadth of music-making at the School as well as the renewed Hall.
“It is wonderful to be coming home to Pollack Concert Hall and to begin a new season that celebrates the special connection between music, place and community,” said Sean Ferguson, Dean of the Schulich School of Music.
“The Celebration Series is an opportunity to showcase the artistry of our community, from emerging student performers to seasoned artists, while rediscovering a venue that has long been at the heart of musical life at Schulich.”
The concert series:
- 19 and 20 – McGill Symphony Orchestra: Beethoven, Higdon, Brahms
- 3 – McGill Wind Orchestra: Foundations and Futures
- 8 – Contemporary Music Ensemble: Through the Lens
- 12, 13 and 14 – Opera McGill: Gregory Spears’s Fellow Travelers
- 18 – Schulich Singers in Concert
- 22 – Schulich in Concert: Arts Intertwined featuring Violaine Melançon, violin and Stéphane Lemelin, piano
Concertgoers who purchase tickets for three or more of the concerts will receive a 30 per cent discount.
“Above all, we want everyone who joins us to feel welcome and to experience the creativity, discovery and sense of belonging that live music can generate,” said Ferguson.
